International Symposium titled Minstrelsy Tradition from Korkut Ata to the Present has been held in Baku, Azerbaijan
The event was organised in cooperation with Bayburt University Dede Korkut Research and Implementation Center, Yunus Emre Institute and Baku State University.
The symposium started with the show 'Dede Korkut' of the Azerbaijani artist Novruz Novruz
After the inaugural speeches by the Rector of Baku State University. Dr. Abel Meherremov, T.C. Baku Ambassador Erkan Özoral, deputy of Azerbaijan Hikmet Babaoglu, TDK President Prof. Dr. Mustafa S. Kacalin, Vice Rector of Bayburt University Prof.Dr.Süleyman Çiğdem, Deputy Director of Korkut Ata Scientific Research Institute of Kazakhstan Sirınbek Koybalıyev, Muhtar İmanov, Director of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Folklore Institute and İbrahim Yıldırım, Baku Yunus Emre Institute Director, a music show was performed by artists from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Presentations on the subject were made from 12.00 to 17.15
Following the presentations a music show was performed by artists from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan where Bayburt was represented by Aşık Süphani
The closing and evaluation meeting on March1 was held under the presidency of Ali Berat Alptekin.
Then scientists, participating in the symposium, briefly expressed their views on the symposium
In this symposium, which was held in 4 sessions between 28 February and 1 March, papers from 42 scientists from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan was presented.
From Bayburt University Prof.Dr. Süleyman Çiğdem, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamdi Güleç, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ferdi Güzel and Asst. Prof. Dr. Turgay Kabak presented their papers.
This important symposium realized with the partnership of Bayburt University made great contribution to Dede Korkut researches and the rapprochement of the Turkish world.
